About Andy
Andy has been creating artwork since she could hold a crayon, has been photographing since her early teens, and loves to combine her creativity with travel and exploration. She has a Bachelor's Degree from Eckerd College in Visual Arts (1995), and a diploma from Morris College in Sussex England in Travel Writing and Photography (1998).
She has lived in Steamboat Springs since April Fool's Day 1998, and co-owns and operates Access Anything, a travel consulting business for people with disabilities, with her husband Craig. Together they have published two travel guidebooks in addition to writing regularly for many travel and adaptive sports magazines.
Andy has held a seat on the Continental Airlines Customers with Disabilities Advisory Board (2008-2010) and now sits on the United Airlines Accessible Travel Advisory Board. She also consults with the Open Doors Organization out of Chicago on many projects including managing the Disability Awareness Block Training for 8000 Amtrak employees throughout 2011 (coordinating trainings in 17 cities, 40 trainers) as well as remodeling the Open Doors website. In 2012 she will be assisting Open Doors in handling the similar training program for Heathrow Airport in preparation for the Paralympic Games in London.
In addition to accessible travel, Andy's passion is for sustainability and environmentalism, with a history in studying sustainable living since an internship after college led her to the Lost Valley Educational Center in Dexter, Oregon in 1995. She joined the Yampa Valley Sustainability Council's Board of Directors in 2008 and in April of 2011 she stepped into the Zero Waste Coordinator position for YVSC to manage events, races, and local initiatives that choose to reduce their impact on the environment by "Going Zero."
Andy also has a background in alternative healing, and started her own practice, Innerself Lightworks, in 2002.
In her *spare* time she loves snowboarding Steamboat Ski Area in the winter months, and hiking, rafting, camping, and exploring Colorado and the wide open country throughout the summer.
